Personal Development Training

Personal Development Training

Personal development training is used to help disabled people who are in employment advance their careers.   Many individuals remain under-employed despite their various talents and skills.   They are fearful to reach their potential and deploy the many and varied skills they have developed through the experience of being a disabled person, such as problem solving, change management, organisational skills and drive and determination.   Personal development training programmes have been designed to help liberate the potential within.

This programme is designed to offer you the opportunity to create a defining point in your life.   It will enable you to take control of the future.   You will become the architect of your destiny.

The first two day event will give you time to review your life and create a new direction in work and other areas of your life.

It will help you:

  • Develop skills and techniques to positively manage your career.
  • Create positive change in your life - work, learning and other areas.
  • Identify personal and work goals.
  • Deal effectively with unforeseen barriers and disappointments.

Then a three week break will give you time to:

  • Practice and apply various techniques for developing and achieving your goals relating to career, work or training and other areas of your life.

The final one-day event will:

  • Enable you to reflect on, and consolidate, your learning.
  • Identify what you really want to do.
  • Help you develop an implementation plan that with further support, will help create your future.

In addition to the shorter personal development training programmes we also provide a range of other model that have been used in other organisations.   For example within the National Probation Service we have worked in partnership with Berkshire Consulting to deliver a two-year development programmed titled "Accelerate".   This has been both for Black and Minority Ethnic people and disabled people.   The objective is to accelerate the careers of Black and Minority Ethnic people and disabled people in senior management positions in the leadership roles in the Civil Service.   The scheme so far has been highly successful with more than half the initial cohort of delegates achieving promotion within the first twelve months of the first two-year project.

In addition we are running a eight month personal development programme for disabled managers in the Home Office to help them develop their careers as leaders.   This involves coaching and mentoring.

We have also delivered a six-month project at Cabinet Office to enable over 30 disabled people to gain greater access to public appointments through the provision of personal development training, mentoring and other support.   This is now being rolled out across all government departments and agencies.
