LOCAL DISABLED BUSINESS LEADER IS APPOINTED TO THE BOARD OF THE 2012 OLYMPIC DELIVERY AUTHORITY

Dr Stephen Duckworth OBE PhD LRCP MRCS
The Olympic Delivery Authority has been designed to be the single delivery body responsible for creating the infrastructure for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in London in 2012, as well as undertaking some operational work while the Games are underway, such as the provision of transport. After looking at previous models of delivering the Games, it was felt that there should be a single body charged with this work to ensure clear lines of accountability.
The proposed Olympic Delivery Authority will work with a broad range of stakeholders, such as local communities, Local Authorities and the Urban Development Corporation for the Thames Gateway, as well as bodies delivering wider projects which are important to the Games, such as the East London Line.
"Getting the venues and the infrastructure ready for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games is the ultimate task for any businessperson, with the ultimate deadline, a completion date that cannot be moved, even by one day. I am raring to go and will enjoy working in partnership with my fellow Board members and our Chair Jack Lemley." said Dr Duckworth. “This is the chance of a lifetime, the biggest building project in the World and the opportunity to create an event with a lasting legacy.”
Stephen, aged 46, lives with his wife Rose and their four boys in the small village of West Tytherley on the Hampshire / Wiltshire boarder. The name of his company speaks for itself www.disabilitymatters.com .
