Peter Bailey and Stephen Duckworth recently were invited to speak with Baroness Amos, the Leader of the House of Lords, about disability and poverty.   Baroness Amos recognised that the onset of an impairment resulted in an individual becoming disconnected from a whole variety of social contacts that led to a downhill spiral of exclusion and poverty.   She was keen to hear our views about what the Cabinet might do at a strategic level to improve opportunities for disabled people in their endeavours to escape from the poverty trap.
